About this Project
The Veterinary Medical Center Small Animal Hospital is an expansion to the UC Davis Weill School of Veterinary Medicine's world-renowned Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital — one of the largest and most advanced veterinary care centers in the world.
This new facility will:
- Increase annual patient capacity from ~40,000 to 60,000+, expanding specialty, emergency, and critical care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets.
- Add new operating suites, dedicated emergency rooms, a modern pharmacy, and expanded treatment areas that support earlier intervention, comprehensive care, and improved health outcomes for patients across specialties.
- Provide enhanced clinical, teaching, and collaboration spaces supporting student training and discovery to further strengthen UC Davis’ role as a leader in veterinary education.
As part of the broader Veterinary Medical Complex expansion (see SVM vision here and links below to planning studies), this project addresses growing demand for veterinary services and helps prepare tomorrow’s veterinary professionals.
