About this Project

UC Davis Design and Construction Management is improving the ARC Parking Lot (Lot 25) to create a smoother, clearer and more predictable experience for people no matter their preferred mode of transportation. The project will reconfigure the area around the ARC, Orchard Road, La Rue Road, Blue Ridge Road and the Sprocket Bikeway to better separate travel paths and improve circulation.

Planned upgrades include a redesigned entrance, a separated bike lane, a dedicated pedestrian sidewalk, new crossings, updates to the existing bike roundabout, additional bike parking near the ARC, new pedestrian lighting, landscaping, irrigation, paving and striping. To complete the work, Lot 25 will be closed to the public from June 15 through Sept. 18, 2026, with drivers encouraged to use the Pavilion Parking Structure during the closure.

Construction Updates

Week of August 31

Parking lot closure

Update as of 8/27/2026: To accommodate construction, vehicles utilizing accessible parking or special event parking through Transportation Services will be detoured through the center of the parking lot, rather than using the lane usually available along the west edge of the parking lot.

  • Parking Lot Closure: Lot 25 is closed for general parking
  • Accessible parking: Accessible parking spaces are available near the entrance of the ARC and near the sports fields.
  • Contractors/deliveries: Limited access is available for contractors and approved deliveries
  • Limited special event parking: Limited parking is available for select events at the ARC, University Credit Union Center and the nearby sports fields with use of a special permit issued by Transportation Services. Upcoming events:
    • Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 - iCAMP 26: Summit for Food Biomanufacturing
    • Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026 - iCAMP 26: Summit for Food Biomanufacturing
    • Friday, Sept. 4, 2026 - Graduate School of Management MPAc Meet the Firms
    • Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026: UC Davis women's soccer game
  • Alternate parking: Parking is available at the nearby Pavilion Structure. An hourly parking zone has been implemented at the Pavilion Structure. Use zone ID "UCDHPS" when purchasing parking to secure hourly parking.

Additional construction impacts

Construction for the project extends outside of Lot 25 to portions of Sprocket Bikeway; the lawn west of Segundo Dining Commons; and the intersection of La Rue Road and Orchard Park Road.

  • Bike/pedestrian detours: Bikes and pedestrians are being routed around construction zones in Lot 25 and on the portion of Sprocket Bikeway between the lot and the Segundo Dining Commons. The detour follows paths around the perimeter of Lot 25 and the path along the north side of the Segundo Dining Commons.
  • "Walk Your Bike zone": A temporary "Walk Your Bike" zone, indicated by signage on site, is in place outside Segundo Dining Commons to promote safe navigation of bollards and pedestrian traffic.
