Orchard Park recognized with two awards

Orchard Park was recently recognized for its design and innovation with awards from both Engineering News Record, or ENR, and Pacific Coast Builders Conference, PCBC.

ENR named Orchard Park the Best Higher Education/Research project in Northern California in its 2024 Regional Best Projects competition. ENR highlighted Orchard Park’s thoughtful design in integrating the housing community with the rest of campus through pedestrian and biking infrastructure, innovative techniques to save time and costs during construction, and the thorough tree protection measures implemented. Orchard Park also caught the eyes of PCBC, which rewarded the project a Gold Nugget award of merit, naming it one of the best “Student or Faculty Housing” projects in the country.

This award-winning — and Platinum LEED certified — design is being put to good use, housing students with families and graduate students with 1,500 beds in the 14-building complex. The completion of Orchard Park last year, marked a milestone in a major push by UC Davis to build more student housing to accommodate the university’s growth.
