Sprocket Building has been identified as a high priority, level VI rated, building for seismic improvements. 

Seismic Renovation

  • Improve building strength with roof diaphragm reinforcement
  • Reinforce connection between exterior walls and second floor
  • Increase lateral building stability by adding shear walls on the east and west ends of the building

Fire, Accessibility & Other Code Improvements

The following scope will bring the building into compliance with the National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA), the California Building Code (CBC) and Americans with Disabilities Act Standards (ADA).

  • Upgrade the existing fire alarm system
  • Improve site accessibility and path of travel to main entry
  • Improve secondary exits
  • Update room signage
  • Install accessible drinking fountains
  • Remove and replace interior stair guardrail and handrail
  • Install exterior stair and elevator

Critical Deferred Maintenance

  • Renovate electrical paneling
