Project Overview
Construction Timeframe: Summer 2025 - Winter 2026
Seismic Improvements: Seismic strengthening with objective of meeting Seismic Performance Level IV
Code Compliance: Updated fire alarm system, improved entrances and signage, remodeled restrooms
Electrical Panel Improvements: Replacement of select electrical panels
Sprocket Building has been identified as a high priority, level VI rated, building for seismic improvements.
Seismic Renovation
- Improve building strength with roof diaphragm reinforcement
- Reinforce connection between exterior walls and second floor
- Increase lateral building stability by adding shear walls on the east and west ends of the building
Fire, Accessibility & Other Code Improvements
The following scope will be executed in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA), the California Building Code (CBC) and Americans with Disabilities Act Standards (ADA).
- Upgrade the existing fire alarm system
- Improve site accessibility and path of travel to main entry
- Update room signage
- Install accessible drinking fountains
- Remove and replace interior stair guardrail and handrail
Electrical Panel Replacements
Electrical panels that have reached end of life will be replaced to help support electrical needs throughout the building. When possible, this work may be completed on a separate timeline from the other project work to help alleviate outages during business hours.
