About this Project
The exciting transformation of the Arboretum Waterway continues. As a result of the successful first phase of this project – completed in 2018 – the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden team secured a $5.4M grant to support the complete metamorphosis of this campus icon and community amenity, which is also the largest component of our stormwater management system.
Beginning at Lake Spafford and extending all the way to its west-end, this project increases the overall stormwater capacity of the Arboretum Waterway, expands its wetland and riparian habitat, adds pumps and weirs for improved water circulation, and replaces its concrete edges with gently sloped banks of native vegetation.
