Two new tools inform community about campus construction projects
In response to feedback from the 2018 Satisfaction Survey, our campus’s Design and Construction Management (DCM) unit has been hard at work developing tools that create transparency and inform our community about all the exciting construction projects occurring on campus.
“UC Davis is one of the most academically diverse universities in the world,” says Jim Carroll, campus architect. “It’s no wonder that we have a diverse array of construction projects to match. Now, we have a couple new ways to share it all.”
Interactive Project Map
Community members interested in taking a peek into every single project can dive deep into the new interactive project map located on the DCM home page (https://dcm.ucdavis.edu). Here you can filter projects by client (school or unit), status (study, design, construction or completed), specific names or by simply clicking on one of the many dots on the map. Users needing more comprehensive data can find individualized project details including budget and schedule updates, next steps, project overviews and – coming soon – images.
Capital Project Report
Don’t need all those details? Check out DCM’s new Capital Project Report filled will large, beautiful renderings, colorful photos and brief content. This digital .pdf (also found on DCM’s homepage) covers the campus’s largest design and construction projects. (Download your own copy here.)
“When you see all these projects together it’s energizing,” says Kelly Ratliff, vice chancellor, Finance, Operations and Administration. “You gain a better picture of the direction our campus is moving, how these projects elevate our academic mission, enrich our community life and create a more sustainable future.”
