About this Project

To safely accommodate the increasing number of cars, bikes and pedestrians going to and from the campus’s expanding Gateway District, this project — majority-funded by the Federal Highway Administration — replaces a 32-foot-wide, almost- 70-year-old bridge with a seismically safe 52-foot-wide span that includes standard sidewalks and bike lanes. The project also relocates utility lines and facilitates multiple improvements to the Arboretum including safer, accessible path connections and irrigation upgrades.
