College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Greenhouses

About this Project

This College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CA&ES) project brings multiple, high-tech greenhouses to UC Davis, where faculty and students are conducting innovative research to keep plants plentiful, nutritious and resilient. With the completion of these state-of-the-art facilities, UC Davis researchers will be able to precisely control temperature and light, allowing them to customize and replicate conditions for each and every plant — all under the same roof. Six of these new greenhouses will be completed in late 2019 with several more being built in the coming years. In addition, Mars, Incorporated is building two greenhouses within the complex to house a large collection of cacao plants. Together with UC Davis faculty, plant breeders from Mars, Incorporated will work to improve and perfect these tropical trees endangered by deforestation.
