Project Overview
Construction Timeframe: Spring 2024 - Winter 2025
Seismic Improvements: Seismic strengthening with objective of meeting Seismic Performance Level IV
Code Compliance: Updated sprinkler and fire alarm systems, improved parking, sidewalk, path and entrance, remodeled restrooms and locker rooms
Electrical Panel Improvements: Replacement of select electrical panels
Jungerman Hall has been identified as a high priority, level VI rated, building for seismic improvements.
Seismic Renovation
The following scope will improve seismic safety while minimizing the impact to the interior of the building.
- Improve building strength in north-south direction with new buttress wall
- Improve building strength in east-west direction by filling in select clerestory windows
Fire, Accessibility & Other Code Improvements
The following scope will be executed in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association standards (NFPA), the California Building Code (CBC) and Americans with Disabilities Act Standards (ADA).
- Provide new automatic fire sprinkler and upgrade existing partial sprinkler system in the basement
- Select upgrades to the existing fire alarm system
- Install an accessible parking stall
- Update primary entrance door
- Install new concrete sidewalk and curb
- Update interior room signage
- Remodel existing restrooms and locker rooms (men’s and women’s)
Electrical Panel Replacements
Electrical panels that have reached end of life will be replaced to help support electrical needs throughout the building. When possible, this work may be completed on a separate timeline from the other project work to help alleviate outages during business hours.
