Renovations to the CME Labratory

CME Laboratory Renovation

About this Project

What happens when a septillion of electrons and a septillion of atoms all interact with each other in close proximity? Discoveries that form the basis of the next generation’s technologies emerge including the development of semiconductor transistors and magnetic resonance im- aging (MRI) devices — this is what physicists at the UC Davis Department of Physics Condensed Matter Experiment Lab study which, thanks to the addition of new faculty members, is expanding! To accommodate their needs, this project renovates space in the basement and on the second floor of the physics building, provides new mechanical equipment; process chilled water, air supply, and exhaust systems; a helium recovery and recycling system; and ADA accessibility upgrades.
