ARC Locker Room Renovation Project

Universal Locker Rooms Coming This Fall

Campus Recreation is excited to introduce the ARC locker room renovation project! We value inclusive, accessible environments that accommodate the diverse needs of our community. We are pleased to announce that we will be remodeling the current locker room facilities to implement universal locker rooms. This renovation will transform the locker room facilities into a space that offers more privacy for all members.

The ARC locker room renovation will begin on Monday, March 10. Locker rooms are projected to reopen in September 2025.

The new universal locker rooms will include a variety of amenities featuring:

  • Individual private cabanas with floor-to-ceiling doors, shower, and changing area
  • Individual private changing rooms with floor-to-ceiling doors and seating
  • Individual private toilet rooms with floor-to-ceiling doors
  • Vanity areas
  • Locker rentals and day-use lockers

FAQ

What is the timeline for the locker room renovation project?
All overnight lockers must be cleared out by Wednesday, March 5. Construction will begin on Monday, March 10. Locker rooms are projected to reopen in September 2025.

What happens to my belongings and where can I pick them up if I don’t empty my locker by March 5?
Belongings left in the locker room after March 5 will be stored for 30 days and can be picked up at the ARC equipment room. Any items that are not retrieved by April 5 will be donated.

Why are the current locker rooms being updated to universal locker rooms?
Universal locker rooms allow all people to change comfortably and privately within our locker room setting. These new spaces will be universally accessible.

What about privacy?
Your privacy is our top priority, and our locker rooms are designed with this in mind. All toilets, changing rooms, and cabanas are individual, private spaces with floor-to-ceiling locking doors.

Who will be able to use the universal locker rooms?
All Campus Recreation members can use our universal locker rooms, regardless of who they are or how they identify. These spaces are inclusive of members with disabilities and members of all gender identities.

Where can I store my belongings while I work out?
Members may continue to use the ARC day-use lockers. A free bag check option will also be available during the renovation project.

Where can I shower?
While the renovation is underway, showers and a limited number of lockers will be available at the Rec Pool for your convenience during their regular hours of operation. Access to the Rec Pool facility requires a valid student ID or the barcode from your Campus Rec Portal app. The Rec Pool is located across the street at 152 La Rue Road. Please note that lockers are limited and require your own lock. Visit the Aquatics website for hours of operation and other Rec Pool facility information.

Will other restrooms at the ARC remain open?
Yes. Restrooms will remain open on the second floor of the ARC and near the ballroom at the north end of the facility.

Will I receive a refund for my locker rental?
If you have an active locker rental, you are eligible for a refund if your rental falls within the renovation time. For any locker paid beyond March 1, 2025, a refund for that amount will be issued. To request a refund, please complete our Campus Recreation Refund Request Form. Refund request forms must be submitted within 90 days following the locker room closure date (March 5, 2025) to be eligible for a refund.

Who can I contact with other questions and concerns?
